Being an Indian, does Deepak Shukla get time to look after his parents when he is always busy travelling?

  • My parents still work full time.
    • They don’t need to. But they want to
    • They’ve been working hard all their lives
  • My parents pride themselves on self-sufficiency and don’t want any monetary help from their children
    • So if I’ve ever offered to help I’ve always been refused

So the short answer is I don’t look after them when I’m busy travelling.

What do I actually do for them?

  1. Anything technical

  2. Helping my mum apply for her visa for India (she has a British Passport)

  3. Helping my dad apply for his British passport (he has an Indian one)

  4. Setting them up on Whatsapp; showing them how to use their phone and the like

  5. Purchasing

  6. Doing 60% of it online rather than the local electronics store

This is all stuff I’m sure many children do for their parents.

I’m spoilt I presume in some ways. My parents taught me self sufficiency because all their lives they had to take care of themselves and us. And as they approach 65 they still show no signs of needing support
