How is the application experience different if you apply to grad school after 2 years of industry work?

Stronger overall I’d say - notwithstanding:

  • Poor previous academic results
  • Working in a non-industry/very marginally related position

Even with these two factors in mind - you will still stand a better chance of getting accepted.

Unless of course your grades are great but you went to work for a company isn’t reflective of your abilities.

Than more questions will be asked of you than answered by your experiences.

However, typically it gives a candidate maturity, confirmation of wanting to pursue a graduate education and worthy industry experience.
