What is the best way to show a promotion on a resume/LinkedIn profile if the job title does not change?

Who is your LinkedIn Profile for?

If it’s to be used internally than people will know you have a promotion when you write it in, in BOLD - PROMOTION.

However, if it’s needed as you’re on the lookout for other work or you’re open to it - then I’d say you have free range to rewrite the job title to reflect the work you do.

Simply explain it to who you would use as a reference in your company AT THE TIME you get asked to provide references for a later job.

The end goal is to expand your network whilst not pissing off anyone internally. If it’s for internal purposes than write the word promotion and talk about it in terms of an achievement.

If you want it for external purposes than the only person who needs to approve is the person you will ask for a reference. You want to give every reason for a recruiter/influencer to stop and read your profile.

If you job title doesn’t reflect what you do - I may just click away…
