When you are applying to grad school, do you have to have a job related to the program/major you are applying to?

No. You don’t HAVE to - but it helps

Successful applicants will need to display some level of:

  • Related work experience even if NOT in a related industry
  • Alternative methods of demonstrating experience or EXPERTISE:
  • Peer reviewed publications in recognised journals
  • Some kind of following online/offline on a related subject
  • An SOP showing how you’ve ‘geeked’ out and studied up all there is to know about this
  • A track record of excellence

Aim to have a couple of any of the above it will help alot!
