Why do muscular people train using light weights?

I have been going to the gym lately. I am curious of other peoples habits. Why do some very muscular people train using lighter weights?

Here’s several potential reasons:

  • Light weights with higher reps with MAXIMUM intensity will help muscle growth better than heavy reps with poor form not allowing for maximum intensity
  • Light weights with high reps helps build muscular endurance and conditioning as well
  • They could be warming up/preparing for heavy weights
  • They could be doing it for the ‘pump’ - to achieve maximum blood flow to the area and for increased vascularity
  • It could be part of a pyramid/drop set where the weight increases decreases
